1. I would like to place the film "Totally Fucked Up" into the category of personal cinema. The use of DV cameras quickly pulls us into the bewildering youth of several protagonists.

   Looking at the film from the perspective of a youth movie, I initially struggled to relate to the vast amount of exposition on life and sexuality expressed by the characters. It was hard for me to identify with their idle wasting of youth. However, as I delved deeper, I gradually realized that our youth is all the same. In China, we are driven to study, study, study. Our university years are when we finally have the opportunity to explore and indulge in our youth. Perhaps our individual ways of doing so differ, but just like the elements presented in this film, we have sex, drink, smoke, and make grand statements about our views of the world. We collide with other lost individuals through these actions, thereby defining ourselves and discovering our own shapes.

   Looking at it from the perspective of an LGBT movie, as a member of the community, I felt that I could completely empathize with Andy's plight. At the time of filming, there was a severe lack of dissemination of information about the subculture of homosexuality, and people's understanding of this group was extremely limited, with deep misunderstandings. Young people in this group could only seek solace from their peers on campus. Their parents may not have even heard of this group, and they would have little guidance or consolation from elders. This group of young people is easy to be guided by a collective consciousness and negative emotions. Even in today's society, this group mostly receives negative information and feelings from the outside world, which is also the reason why the suicide rate of same-sex adolescent youths like Andy is relatively high.

   The scenes of Andy lying in bed in the film are mostly inverted, making it difficult for us to face him. Isn't this visual language design suggesting that people like Andy are difficult to be viewed and valued by most people?
